Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) has trained Nsanje District Civil Protection Committees (DCPC) members, volunteers and sub division representatives in Cash Transfer and market assessment, as one way of building the knowledge and skills for effective management of cash transfers. The three-day training, conducted at Nsanje Discovery Lodge in Nsanje district is one of the modalities of 18 months MRCS Early Recovery from Disasters Project components.

Blantyre District has distributed 98 per cent of the National Identity Cards (IDs), a development authorities have described as impressive. Speaking Friday during a District Registration Task Force Team (DRFT) meeting, George Chitsonga who is Blantyre District Assistant Registrar said unlike in urban centres, rural areas have registered a successful distribution rate with some centres reaching 100 per cent.
