President Mugabe, who was flanked by the service chiefs, admitted that Zanu-PF was also facing challenges that required attention that would be dealt with at the forthcoming Extraordinary Congress that he said he would preside over.

“As I address you, I am also aware of a whole range of concerns which have come from you all citizens of our great country, and who thus deserve our untrammeled attention,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations yesterday said the current situation in Zimbabwe is an opportunity for the birth of a new nation. In a statement, the ZHOCD said the ruling party or Government were not solely responsible for the current situation.

They blamed it on the connivance of the different arms of the State and complicity of the church and civil society.

On the other hand, the ZANU PF Youth League went to town on Grace Mugabe.

She lacked grooming and true motherhood as shown by her foul language during interface rallies, the Zanu-PF Youth League said yesterday. 

The wing also called for the expulsion of Dr Mugabe from Zanu-PF and for President Robert Mugabe to step down as President and First Secretary of the party and President of Zimbabwe.
