MEDIA STATEMENT MINISTER OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND POSTAL SERVICES DR SIYABONGA CWELE TO OFFICIALLY OPEN LIQUID TELECOM’S SA DATA CENTRES IN MIDRAND The Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services Dr Siyabonga Cwele is scheduled to officially open Liquid Telecom’s SA Data Centres in Midrand, Johannesburg, later today. The investment by Liquid Telecom is in line with the objectives of the National Integrated ICT Policy White Paper which seeks to encourage the growth of the local data centre market through public and private sector partnerships. The policy envisages that spreading data centres across the country would facilitate the proliferation of specialist ICT skills in all provinces and the entry of new players into the market. SA Data centres operates two facilities, one in Johannesburg and another in Cape Town. Minister Cwele will be at the Johannesburg facility. Members of the media are invited to attend the opening.
