OC HAILS THE MEDIA By Henry Mlelemba, Local Correspondent Outgoing officer in charge for Salima police station who is also Deputy Commissioner for Central region Edward Chingaipe has hailed the media for taking part in crime reduction in the district. He was speaking on the sidelines of an award ceremony which took place at Salima District Council Chamber on Friday 19 January 2017, where the station was commended for reducing crimes in the just ended year. The officer in charge said the media has helped a lot to curb criminals’ cases by reporting and sensitizing people on negative effects of committing different offences. “We really appreciate the commendable job that the media has done in helping us to curb criminal cases here in Salima, therefore, this should be encouraging to all media personnel in the district”. In his remarks, a delegate from central region Police headquarters who is also Chairperson for community policing Reverend Mbewe encouraged Salima Police Station for their big role in curbing criminal cases in the district. “Let me congratulate all the men in uniform for working hand in hand to emerge one of the police station who have done well, so let us all fight hard for the betterment of the country.” Salima Police has managed to score position two in reducing crimes in the just ended year and they were given award to motivate them.
